The IB Diploma Program

The Diploma Programme is a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for students in the 16 to 18 year old age range. It is a broad-based two-year course that aims to encourage students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, but also caring and compassionate. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging students to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.

Why Should I Take IB?

In addition to choosing the finest college preparation available at Trabuco Hills High School, students will further benefit because Admissions Offices at colleges and universities recognize the rigor of IB classes and training. IB students routinely gain admission to some of the most respected universities in the world. Most of these institutions have established recognition policies for the IB diploma, granting credit up to and including sophomore standing upon entry. IB Certificate candidates will be awarded unit recognition based on the number of certificates they complete. University of California Recognition Policy- Students who earn 30 points or more out of a possible 45 on their IB diplomas will be awarded 30 course equivalents upon entry to any of the seven University of California Campuses.

Mrs. Connelly, THHS' IB Coordinator, has developed an IB calendar for students and parents. It contains very important dates and timelines to help you stay organized. October 15th is the first upcoming deadline for IB. Also, it is never too late to start saving monthly for IB and AP tests.
